If there is a way to make Adobe Flash Player work on the Powerbook G4 OS 10.5.8 Leopard, please let me know. (I am certain I am not the only one searching for help on this topic.) As an aside, the topic list below is too generic. There should be one 'using OS 10.5 Leopard on a laptop' or 'Powerbook'. After updating Flash on my (Intel) OS X 10.5.8. Firefox and Safari browser crashed when opening a web site containing a flash file. So I deleted the the 2 plugin files from /Library/Internet-Plugins folder and tried the install routine for Flash 10.3. (for OS X 10.4 and 10.5). (If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:). Adium is a free and open source instant messaging application for Mac OS X, written using Mac OS X's Cocoa API, released under the GNU GPL and developed by the Adium team. System Requirements: 1.4.5: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard — 1.3.10: Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
After you have upgraded to 10.6.8:
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
